Working Progress
Cliche
The TV advert my group decided to do is about lipstick. My role throughout the production was I was the Producer of the whole thing, done some things during pre-production. During pre-production, I done the risk assessments and the production schedule. What I done for the risk assessment was go to our location of where we are done the production and look for all the hazards and danger that may occur during the production. For the production schedule, I managed to plan when we are filming and the times that we will be filming.
For the production, it was mainly myself and one of my group member filming. By me filming majority of the footage that we needed, it made me pick up some more filming techniques for example where to position the camera so that the continuity edit will run smoothly. I used a range of different camera angles, close ups, long shots and medium shots to get full expressions of the main character and also to show body expressions.

For the first TV advert, I had a range of ideas of what to do. What I initially planned was to get the footage together and try to make it not be pass the maximum time of 45 seconds. I failed on that one because I the first video came out to be over 45 seconds long and I was struggling to cut it down because I didn’t know what to take out or what to cut down so it made be stall my work for a some time. This advert also wasn’t good enough because some of the footage was missing so I had to go back to get some footage. I was missing some close up which was very important because it demonstrates the characters feelings and emotions so without the close ups, it wouldn’t tell the story properly and it would confuse the audience. But the positives that came out of the first draft was that I had many jump cuts, I added some fades such as dip to black and dip to white and the edit was running smooth.
TV Advert Part 2
What I feel I can improve on is that I could of selected a better location because the location that we chose was a bit of a problem because there were too many things in the background of the advert so we had to firm it and work around the background. Another thing is to get better shots because if you look closely, in the end scene when For the second tv advert, this is a improved and what I feel is a much advert. This is because of the improvements that I’ve made. What I done was watch the whole advert many times and realise that it was too long and I had some irrelevant things such as the beginning; I removed the whole of the beginning because it felt like it was longin out the whole point of the advert, it was making the story longer than what it meant to be and it was boring. By me taking it out and adding more jump cuts and fades makes it short and sweet and it still gets it point across. Also, I managed to change the song from being straight and flat into making the song jump into the cuts in the advert. What I done was use the razor tool to click on each time there is a cut into advert so that the music cuts into beat with the advert. By doing this, it makes it more easier and better for it to flow. Also, I took away the credits that I added in at the end because I realised that it made it seem like a movie and it wasn’t needed and I also changed the position of where the name of the advert is called. I changed the position of it from the right hand side to the left hand side because there was some posters in the right hand side of the background whereas on the left hand side there was less posters.
What I could improve on
What I feel I can improve on is that I could of selected a better location because the location that we chose was a bit of a problem because there were too many things in the background of the advert so we had to firm it and work around the background. Another thing is to get better shots because if you look closely, in the end scene when they were at the club, the whole footage was a bit blurry so what I can do to improve on the footage it to play about with the focus of the camera until I can see that the camera quality of the footage is perfect.
